Heres a small gallery of images featuring the new selectable backdrops for Skirmish mode, as well as a few of the new structures (While you can’t see it in the picture, the “Stellar Clouds” backdrop does indeed move and churn, creating quite a different look). Pictured you will see the beginnings of a Stellar Gate that will work in conduction with base walls. Also in the images you can see the newest turrets, “Microturrets”. Cheap to build, and while bite-sized, still pack a punch. I’m going over some overhauls to the GUI as well to make it a little less default and a bit more “Stellar”.
As for the nerd-speak, there were some major changes to the code that generates the world for Skirmish. Usage of draw call batching has boosted performance overall and I’m quite happy with the change. You can also see what may or may not be a more final version of the dust-block texture. I’m still up in the air on that.
